The Knit Surfers had a fun dye class at Common Threads with friends playing with color on Sunday. Kelie hopes to dye the color wheel someday and puts it on Nancy’s To Do list. 😉
Kelie finished her Louisa Harding Felicity sweater and was ready to wear it but didn’t want to do a full wet block. Nancy suggested a light steam block with an iron and it smoothed out the stitches and ridges. The sweater is perfect for San Diego and a fun knit.
Nancy gives us a lesson on care labels and how to read them.
The 5 labels are:
Thanks so much for this show. The dying segment went super and so glad you guys had a successful class. I really appreciate you going over labels and how to care for your handknits. I would see these symbols kind of get it; but not. I like you said the dryer is a square, and the beaker bottle is bleach. No idea on those. What can I say your shows are positive uplifting and educations. Keep the shows a coming(: Karen
I just wanted to comment on the topic of knitting and non-knitting yarn sales reps. When you think about it, it’s no different than any other type of sales. Whether it’s selling insurance or art, it’s all about knowing your product and matching it to your customer’s needs. The important thing is listening. It sounds like Peter is a great rep. He knows you have to run a store, so he adjusts his time to the store owner, rather than expecting the store owner to take time out of sale to meet with him. After all, if you don’t sell yarn, neither does he. And I’ll bet he knows what the focus of each yarn shop is and how their needs are different. Good job.
Hi Joy,
Thanks for contributing your thoughts on yarn sales reps. We also thought it was interesting to learn from his perspective. He is very new to the world of yarn, but learned the lingo quicker than most and impressed both Kelie and I with his awareness of our needs.
Thanks for listening! We hope you will continue to contribute comments on our podcast.
